School System
"Holly School System covers 124 square miles. It is the largest geographic district in Oakland County, Michigan and is located mid-way between I-75 and US-23 in Oakland County in the heart of the Southeast Michigan lakes region.
District student enrollment projection for 2004-2005 is 4,355. Staff includes 265 teachers, 280 support staff, and 17 administrators. District includes Holly High School (9-12), Sherman Middle School (7-8), four elementary schools (K-5), and the Karl Richter Campus. The Karl Richter Campus houses the Richter Intermediate School (grade 6), Wellspring Alternative School (grades 9-12), Special Services, BEST/Head Start Programs, Pre-school programs, KIDS Program, Communications/Enrichment, and the Transportation Department. Budget for 2004-2005 is $36.5 million.
The Holly Area School District participates in the Flint Metro League. There are approximately 58 teams from grades 7-12 participating in the athletic program. Football, golf, cross-country, wrestling, basketball, tennis, volleyball, track, softball, baseball, cheerleading, skiing, soccer, swimming/diving and dance are offered. The district is NCA accredited. Out of the district's 265 teachers, 189 have their Masters Degrees. The district's MEAP scores have shown a trend of steady and strong improvement over time." *
